• Data you provide: Start and end points for trips you search for.
• Anonymous Identifier: To allow you to manage your saved trips, we assign a random, anonymous identifier to your browser. This identifier is stored on your device and sent with any trip you save.
• Data stored on your device (localStorage): To improve your experience, we save settings and history directly in your browser. This includes: 'wayweather-settings' (language, theme, units), 'starredLocations' (places you save), 'recentSearches' (your search history), 'savedTrips' (trips you save for sharing), and a cookie from Google AdSense for advertising purposes.
• Anonymous usage data: Your IP address and basic browser information may be processed by our third-party services for security and functionality reasons.

How we use your data

• To provide, operate, and maintain our service.
• To save your personal settings and history for a better user experience.
• To protect our service from abuse (e.g., via Google reCAPTCHA).

Third-Party Services

WayWeather relies on several third-party services to function. We only share the information absolutely necessary for them to perform their tasks. These services include:

• Mapbox: For maps, geocoding, and route calculations.
• MET Norway (Yr.no): To retrieve weather data for your route.
• Google reCAPTCHA: To protect our service from spam and abuse.
• Supabase: To store data when you choose to 'Save & Share' a trip.

Data Sharing and Public Links

When you use the 'Save & Share' feature, your trip's route data is stored in our database (Supabase) to generate a unique, shareable link. Please be aware that anyone with this link can view the saved trip details, including the origin and destination names. Do not save trips with sensitive personal information (e.g., your home address) if you do not want this information to be publicly accessible.

Your Rights (GDPR)

You have the right to request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data. As we store minimal personal data on our servers (only for shared trips), this mainly pertains to the data you can delete yourself from your browser's localStorage.
